Mount Abang

History

Mount Abang is believed to be the oldest volcano in Bali and was once part of a much larger volcanic system before the formation of the Mount Batur caldera. Unlike Bali’s more active volcanoes, Mount Abang is dormant and known more for its spiritual and cultural significance. For generations, local communities have viewed the mountain as sacred, with temples and rituals connected to the surrounding highland region.
